The ATA Lopez Foundation is proud to introduce the Safe Return Program; a new initiative designed to support families and strengthen community response for individuals with disabilities who may wander or elope.

As a mother of three medically complex children with different disabilities, I understand the fear that comes with wandering or elopement — it can happen in an instant.
Preparation, communication, and community collaboration can make all the difference.

While no outcome can ever be guaranteed, the Safe Return Program helps families by enabling faster, more coordinated responses if a loved one goes missing.

Mobilize trained volunteers to assist in search efforts
Offer emotional support and guidance to families during crisis situations

🔒 While the ATA Lopez Foundation is not a healthcare provider, we follow HIPAA-compliant data protection standards to safeguard sensitive information shared with the Safe Return Program. All information is voluntary, confidential, and only used in the event of an emergency.

We are excited to share that, thanks to the generous support of Nikki Pitre, local Realtor, families who pre-register for the Safe Return Program will now receive an Emergency Contact NFC Tag at no cost! (Limited amount unless have more businesses willing to participate!)

These tags store important emergency contact details using the free NFC Tools app.
If a loved one is ever lost, anyone can tap the tag with their phone to instantly access your child’s emergency contact info.

This small tool can make a big difference in keeping our loved ones safe!
